summer dance camp

Ages 11- 16. £100

Come and join Gary Rowntree for a week-long summer dance programme where you will experience a range of dance styles including Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Ballet.

 You do not need to have previous experience but a willingness to learn is a must. You will meet new friends, experience new dance styles and have great fun.

 Please bring a packed lunch and bottled water. Wear clothes suitable for dance.


Gary Rowntree | Dance offer a range of workshops and classes including residencies in dance vocational settings and youth and community organisations. Workshops and residencies are programmed as part of the Gary Rowntree | Dance 'Engage' programme which has a huge part of the company.  

The 'Engage' programme can include the following activity:

  • Contemporary dance technique 
  • Jazz technique ( Musical Theatre / Lyrical / Mattox technique)
  • Choreography
  • Contact Improvisation
  • Dance Theatre
  • Physical Theatre
  • Movement for actors.

Classes and workshops begin with a contemporary dance class that is based on Cunningham and Release based technique with influences from classical ballet. Classes can be tailored depending on intended programme outcome. 

Gary Rowntree has worked as a guest choreographer, lecturer and programme facilitator with the following organisations: Belfast City Council, Newtownabbey Borough Council, The Crescent Arts Centre, Newlodge Arts, YouthAction Northern Ireland, The Rainbow Factory, and Newcastle College (Newcastle Upon Tyne).

Current Gary is the resident programme facilitator for St Louise's Specialist Arts College and Co Ordinates their Trinty College London Dance Arts Award. Later in 2014, he will also be a lecturer in dance at the Northern Regional College (NRC).
